Use a new object symbol in ARIS

You can use new object symbols in ARIS. In the following example, an object symbol will be created for the Event object. Note that the example describes the procedure in a download client. If you use a Web client for this task, navigate to the options under Application launcher > Administration > Conventions > Object symbols.

Prerequisite

You have the Configuration administrator function privilege.

Procedure. Procedure

  1. Open the Administration tab.

  2. Click Configuration > Method > Symbols.

  3. Right-click the Event Event object symbol and select New > Derive symbol. The Symbol Wizard opens.

  4. Select the required language.

  5. Enter a name for the new object symbol. This name is used by default when you place the object symbol in the modeling area.

  6. Click Next.

  7. Click Browse, select the object symbol you created, and click Open and Finish. The symbol is now available. To use the new symbol in databases that are currently opened, you must first log off and log in again.

  8. Open a model of the EPC type. In the Symbols bar, the new event is available.

  9. Place your object symbol in the workspace and enter the relevant text.

The text will be displayed within the text attribute area you specified.
